Creative Process

Sketches to Styleframes

To divide the tasks for creating the title sequence we decided to split up scenes between each member of the team. After we created an initial story board it was easy to decide who would do what. I was assigned to create the maze scene that involved the "main character" moving through a complicated system similar to that of a Rube Goldberg machine.

I began with a sketch to establish a composition as well as to get an idea of how the main character would move throughout the scene. After I had a sketch that I liked I moved to a digital environment to add color and finalize the frame, then I went back again to add more machine elements.

Moving forward

Sketches to Styleframes

After a discussion with the rest of the team, we decided to simplify the imagery even more. I went through a similar process to that above, and began iterating on my scene by replacing, shifting, and reconstructing components and colors from the original scene.

Conclusions

& take-aways

I was allowed a great opportunity to be able to help develop this video. During this experience, I learned more about what it means to work on larger scale projects that involve following a style guide and working with team members. A key part of what I learned is; that when you work on a team, you are really there to assist in interpreting the concept and generating ideas that, when considered against the other team members' ideas, can merge and evolve into a fully understood piece.
